Andrew Binko

1895-1991

Andrew Binko was born in 1895 in Poland. He came to the United States in 1912.  His parents did not want him to fight in the war.   He had one sister, one brother, and a dog named Buster.  He went to school in Poland.  Teddy Roosevelt was President then.

Later in America, he was good with horses and was a teamster in the logging camps. When Andrew first arrived in America his brother was here, but he soon returned to Poland.  After that, Andrew never saw any of his family again.

The biggest historical event in his live was when man landed on the moon.  Andrew liked to collect license plates and go to the bar.  A piece of candy cost him a penny at the Freeman Lumber Company.  His wife was Edith Price. After she died he married Frances Ozanich Lesatz.   Andrew had ten stepchildren and twenty grandchildren. He worked at Barrett Log Company, Charcoal Iron Company, and then the Inland Limestone Company.  He had a very hard life and was very strict.  He did not know how to write or read English.
