      ALFRED C. DAVIS

 1902-1971

Alfred Davis was born in 1902.  His father’s name was John Parker Davis.  His mother’s name was Amelia.  Both of his parents had immigrated from Ireland.  John and Amelia were married in Naubinway, Michigan.  Alfred was the youngest of seven children.  His brothers and sisters were Ethel, Eileen, John M., Grace M., Grancis G., Ada A. Alfred S.

Alfred C. Davis graduated from the University of Michigan with a Masters Degree.  Alfred did not like to be disturbed while sleeping.  He married Margaret Louise Andre and was divorced in 1958.  In 1939 he bought a farm one mile North of Engadine on M 117.  Alfred and his family, including two children, John and Mary, lived there until 1949.  Then he began teaching in Owosso, Michigan.  He was really good at school work, and head of the Math Department during the ten years he was there.  He also taught in Sault Ste. Marie and Engadine, and was the superintendent in Engadine.

Alfred’s biggest historical events were World Wars I and II and Armistice Day.  He would travel to New York by train to see his son.  Alfred had a friend named Ed Cantin.  He met Mr. Rod Carlson while working in Engadine.  He would use his spare time on Sundays socializing and drinking coffee.  Mr. Alfred Davis was a very intelligent man, along with his two children, and he will not be soon forgotten in Engadine.
