Steven Ozanich 1953-1991
Steven Ozanich was born on September 15,1953. He had two siblings, a brother, Rich, and a sister,Cindy. The town was similar to today's with a couple additions. He lived just west of Engadine. He got around on his bike to go to the Engadine Hardware Store. Steven did not go far in his travels; he stayed right here in Michigan. His worst memory was the JFK assassination. To go to school he rode the bus as transportation. His school was similar to today's with a couple additions. On his first day of school when he walked in his classroom he was both excited and afraid. In school Steven took the everyday classes, but he always liked science the most. He got scolded by the teacher if he was chewing gum or passing notes. The clothes that were popular with Steven were like today's, just not as loose. When he was in school, the President for half the time was John F.Kennedy, and the other half was Lyndon Johnson. As a teenager Steven had his first date at age sixteen. He had a curfew which was 10:00 P.M.. To go to a movie he would pay only one dollar, and a candy bar cost five cents or ten cents, depending on the candy bar. In his spare time Steven liked to play sports, such as baseball, basketball, and ride a bike; his favorite band was CCR. He liked to watch "The Twilight Zone" and movies on T.V. and listen to westerns and science fiction on the radio. He collected baseball cards, read car magazines, won an award in Martial Arts class, and loved Cheerios. Steven's favorite family tradition was spending time with his family, especially on the holidays. He is certainly remembered at each family holiday celebration. The good old days were better when he was younger, but looking back everything seemed a little bit slower. Marissa Stansbury Fifth Grade Engadine Elementary School
