HENRY WEBER

1925 - 1987

Henry Weber was born in Chicago in 1925 and was adopted by an Engadine family. He liked dogs, so he got some. He got to Engadine School by walking. His first day of school was frightening for him, because he was shy. When he was in fifth grade, Franklin Roosevelt was President, and popular clothes were knickers. His school classes were regular, but there were no computers. If he got into a fight at school, he would get punished. He liked to play baseball, and his favorite sports team was the Detroit Tigers, but on his walls were certificates from his church. His chores were farm chores for which he got no allowance. But his first paying job was working for a farmer.

Later, his job for many years was at Inland Quarry. Henry was good at hunting, fishing, camping, and just wandering around the woods, because he was an outdoor person. He went on his first date in his car, when he was eighteen. A candy bar cost ten cents, and for Henry to go to the movies was twenty-five cents. He got married in 1950 to Ruby at the Lutheran Church in Engadine. They had a daughter, two sons, one grandson and one step daughter. His youngest son was especially intelligent. Henry 's favorite times were spent with his friends and when his son got married. In the good old days Henry enjoyed having his family together.

The biggest historical event in Henry's life was World War II, and his worse disaster was when his son died a tragic death. Henry's wife died of an illness that lasted many years. Henry Weber died in 1987 at home from a heart attack.
