LARRY HASTINGS
1888-1971
Larry Hasting was born on August 17, 1888, in Clam Lake, Michigan. He had all brothers whose names were Fred, Ray, and Don. Grover Cleveland and William McKinley both served as U.S. Presidents when Larry was in grade school. When his whole family got together they played baseball. Larry was really good at building houses. He also read wild west books; in fact he had a library of them. A candy bar cost him five cents, a six pack of pop cost him twenty-five cents, and to go to the movies cost him twenty-five cents. He got married in 1915 in Manistique and was married for fifty-six years to Ruth. He had to children, Audrey and Frank. Larry also had six grandchildren. Four of them are Tom fifty-two, Judy forty-eight, Richard forty-seven, and Laura. His jobs were working at the mill ( His first paying job), and he was a carpenter. Larry got along with his son Frank Hastings. Larry painted and did repair work for Frank. He went over to Frank's a lot. The biggest historic events in his life were going to Florida starting in 1933 and going out West. Larry Hasting died at the age of eighty-three.
