ROBERT WENTLAND

1907-1964

Robert Wentland was born on a farm north of Engadine. He had three brothers, Richard, August, and Max. He lived and worked on a farm. When he was in elementary school, Howard Taft was President, and popular clothes were blue shirts and bib overalls. In his spare time he liked to monkey around and play sports.

When he was older, he was a really good at being a mechanic and owned his own garage beginning in 1936 in downtown Engadine, right next to his home. During his life- time were two world wars and the sinking of Titanic. He went on his first date when he was 16, and he got married in 1931 in Newberry. The lucky lady was Irene Merrick. They had two children, Connie and Sylvia, and four grandchildren and were married until Robert’s death in 1964.
