CLARA WAGNER

1914-1987

Clara was born on November 26, 1914, in Newton Township on Grandpa Price’s farm. She had three sisters, Marie, Cashman, and Elvina Jenks and two brothers, John, and Bob. But two of the girls died, Marie and Cashman. The clothes that were popular were dresses. She didn’t get into any trouble as a child at all! She played ball, tag, and hide- and -seek as a child. She was really good at cooking and cleaning. When Clara was a child she had farm chores, but Clara didn’t get any allowance because it was the time of the depression.

For a paying job she worked on Vallier’s farm. She read farm magazines, because they had no TV or radio. A candy bar cost her 2 to 5 cents. She liked to collect silver coins, and make doilies in her spare time. Two really big historic events during her lifetime were a big fire and the J.F.K. shooting. She will be remembered because of her cooking and being home with her brothers and sisters when they were small. Her goal for the future was to retire.
