JULIA ROSENTHAL

1889-1954

This is the story of Julia. Julia was born on December 25,1889, in Denilow Rodmsh, Russia. She had 3 sisters – Emily, Alwin and Ottilia; she also had 2 brothers Ludwig and Amilie. They lived in Germany. Julia, along with her siblings, had to work on a farm. She loved to cook. In fact she was the first cook at Engadine school. As a child she took Bible School with all the classes they gave. When she had to get up in the morning for school, her favorite cereal was oatmeal, and the games she played were "cards" and a game called "A Mill". Her favorite family traditions were the holidays.

Later on in her life the doctors told her she had cancer but she didn’t. The biggest historical events in her life were "World War 1","World War 2" and the "Depression". Julia married Julius; she then became a Rosenthal. They got married on December 19, 1910, in Russia. They traveled from Russia to Ellis Island [in New York] to Akron, Michigan, and to Engadine. Their children are Wanda, Linda, Elsie, Alvin, Hazel, Arthur and William, and their grandchildren are Dave and Del, and their great grandchildren are Shalan, Shantel, Adriane, Bryan, Andrea, and Nikki.

Many years later Julia died in Newberry on July 2, 1954, after many strokes. Her husband, Julius, had died before her on March 14, 1951. She will be remembered for always being there, a best friend!
