JIM CONVERSE 1903-1989 Jim Converse was born in 1903. He had four sisters and one brother. His school was a one room all through the school. He walked to school, and his first day was very fun. President Wilson was president then. The kind of clothes he wore were black shirts and knee pads, and the girls wore black skirts. Geometry was his favorite class and he used a paper and pencil instead of a calculator. He had to be in bed at 9:00 P, M. The way he got in trouble was fist fighting with another boy. Then when they get caught they got a spanking with a board. He played shinny, baseball, knock in a rock and built and collected cars, while having fun doing it. He had posters of children playing and base- ball players on the walls of his room. In 1925 he heard his first radio station while reading the Reader’s Digest. His favorite cereal was oatmeal and corn flakes, and candy bars cost him $00.05. Plus when he went to the movies on his first date at seventeen or eighteen it cost $00.15. He shopped at the drug store and the hardware store and traveled to Niagra Falls. The worse disaster he ever witnessed was an airplane crash. His job was at General Motors. He got married to DeVera Collins on May 6, 1975. He will be remembered for his interest in cars and for being a good dancer. His goal for the future was to fly an airplane.
