LLOYD BERNARD COLLINS 1915-1993
Lloyd Bernard Collins had nine brothers and one sister, and he also had a nice big German Shepherd named Brutis. Lloyd had to carry wood back to the house and feed the chickens and gather their eggs. When Lloyd went to school he walked three miles from his farm to school. He thought school was good, but the first day of school was scary at first. Lloyd liked to wear knickers to school. The classes he took were reading and writing with math. Lloyd’s favorite games to play were marbles and baseball with his friends. In the morning Lloyd like to eat toast and oatmeal. Back then candy bars cost him five cents at Freeman Grocery and a movie cost twenty-five cents. Lloyd had his first date when he was eighteen, walking to the movies and back. His curfew was at nine o’clock. Lloyd liked to collect marbles. Lloyd liked it when the whole family was at the dining room table studying and when they all went to church. In his spare time he like to whittle and make duck decoys. Lloyd loved fishing, building houses and cooking. He was a veteran in the Second World War, serving as a mess sergeant or the second cook.
